Hodi Board Members

Dr. Charlotte Harland

Chair of the Hodi Board, has lived and worked in Zambia for 20 years. She works for UNICEF.

Charlotte Harland is a founding member of Hodi.  She has fifteen years experience in project management and consultancy in the social sector.  She has worked in social protection, where she was responsible for the design and implementation of the reformed Public Welfare Assistance Scheme.  This included the design, piloting and management of successful programmes to increase access to health and education, particularly for orphans and vulnerable children.  She has also worked extensively in HIV/AIDS, community capacity building, organisational development, education, health and community based natural resource management.

Mr. Colin Chasha

Corporate Credit Director, Barclays Bank of Zambia 

Colin Chasha is a graduate of Copperbelt University with a Bachelor in Business Administration and is a Chartered Accountant.  He has work experience in corporate recovery and insolvency, corporate finance and has been involved in bank supervision. He is also a subject matter expert in risk management, liquidations and receiverships.  He is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA).

Clare Barkworth

Director (Socio Economist), Whydah Consultancy Ltd

Claire Barkworth is a graduate of University of Reading with a Masters in Agricultural Economics. She has extensive experience in social and economic appraisal; Social investment funds, social protection, social safety nets, and poverty reduction. In addition, she has participated extensively in policy development with particular focus on issues related to HIV/AIDS, social protection, food security, orphans and vulnerable children, education, health, gender and environment.

She has been involved in designing monitoring and evaluation systems as well as programme design, appraisal, and strategic planning. Other key areas of specialization are fiscal decentralisation, local governance, local planning, policy and implementation. She is an invaluable resource of knowledge in matters concerning institutional development at district, provincial and national levels.

Colin Williams, OBE

Economist.

Colin Williams graduated from Carleton University with a Masters in Economics. He is an expert on strategic planning, development and facilitation. He has played a key role in the establishment and management of successful international and local NGOs. His experience spans poverty reduction through market integration of small holder farmers, emergency response, HIV and AIDS, fundraising response, creating country programs and institutional building.

Dr. Dennis Chiwele

Development Economist. RuralNet Associates 

Dennis Chiwele has a wide-ranging professional experience in economic development that spans a period of 20 years that has led him to have a good grasp of the multiple factors (macro, meso and micro) affecting the viability of people’s livelihoods. His experience covers many aspects of development including interactions of local development processes with the wider economy, agriculture marketing, agricultural policy, agriculture sector-wide approaches, economic adjustment, employment and the labour markets (including rural labour markets), monitoring and evaluation systems, international trade, district and community stakeholder-driven strategic planning, poverty-oriented budget support, household food security, water and sanitation, strategic environmental impact assessment and local governance and political reforms.

Dr. Gilbert Mudenda

Economist. Director Institute of Policy Studies, Zambia

Gilbert Mudenda is a graduate of the University of Sussex with a DPhil in Industrial Economics.  He has won numerous awards, one of which is the prestigious Adjunct Scholar Award.  His professional experience spans economic and social development, market development and commercialisation of smallholder agriculture, varied government experience and HIV and AIDS /health care issues. He has also published numerous books on issues such as technological development and educational policy, he has also been involved in countless environmental assessments.

Mr. Nchima Nchito

Lawyer. Managing Partner MNB Legal Practitioners

Nchima Nchito is a graduate of the University of Zambia with a Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB) and was admitted to the bar to practice as an advocate in 1987.  He currently specialises in aspects of corporate law, commercial transactions, commercial litigation including debt collection and enforcement of securities and insolvency. He is extremely competent in corporate governance and commercial legislation and has conducted lectures on these subjects at varied forums.

Ms. Chileshe Chilangwa

Hodi is the brain child of Chileshe Chilangwa.   She has a Masters in developmental studies from Bath University. She has extensive experience in rural development throughout Zambia and has worked closely with international aid organisations creating long standing partnerships. She has experience in relief and humanitarian programming, policy and legislative development and capacity building using participatory methodologies. Her passion and enthusiasm for community development work has grown Hodi from a single program organisation to a multi- sectoral local NGO whose management and accomplishments match leading international NGO’s in Zambia.
